It is mid January and summer is now at its peak across Australia. We wanted to share a clear and honest update on the current state of moss foraging and what this means for Koda Moss.
At this time of year, conditions in the forest become extremely dry and hazardous. High temperatures, reduced moisture, and increased fire risk mean that foraging live moss is no longer safe for us, nor is it viable for the moss itself. During peak summer heat, moss naturally enters a dormant state as a survival response, making harvesting inappropriate and unsustainable.
Your safety, the health of the ecosystems we work within, and the quality of the moss we supply are non negotiable for us. For these reasons, we have temporarily paused live moss foraging until conditions improve.
When will we be back?
As soon as the weather cools and moisture returns to the forest floor, we will resume responsible foraging and fulfil live moss orders once again. This typically occurs as summer eases and conditions stabilise.
Stay informed
The best way to know exactly when we are back up and running is to subscribe to our mailing list (bottom of this page). Subscribers will be the first to receive updates, availability announcements, and seasonal insights from the forest.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this pause may cause and truly appreciate your understanding. We look forward to bringing Australia’s best live moss to your creative projects very soon.
Thanks!
Emrah
